New Music Friday #12

Heya darlings,

New Music Friday is upon us again and this time it is FILLED with so much. They’re really feeding us well.

  • Selena Gomez & benny blanco - I Said I Love You First
  • Yungblud - Hello Heaven, Hello
  • Conan Gray - Kid Crow, Decomposed
  • Zoe Ko - not ur girlfriend
  • Tate McRae - So Close to What (SiriusXM Live in LA)
  • Sofia Camara - Was I(t) Worth It?
  • Jensen McRae - Savannah
  • Leah Kate - Just Because

Selena Gomez & benny blanco - I Said I Love You First

Releasing a love album together is a bold move but they did it anyway. When I first listened to the first single Scared of Loving You I was a bit skeptical about whether I would even like it at all. It’s a different sound we’re used to, that’s 100% true. To be really honest it’s not my cup of tea YET, might get used to this.

I’m so sorry to Selena and Benny I wish I could’ve said I love this album but I can’t yet. I will listen to it more and cloud my opinions for now.

I CAN say that funnily my favorite right now is tied between Scared of Loving You and Call me When you Break Up.

Yungblud - Hello Heaven, Hello

Dom is back with a banger. 9 minutes and 3 seconds. It’s like the track goes from genre to genre within these 10 minutes. Bizarre.

There's a chance I won't see you tomorrow
So I will spend today saying hello
And all the hopes and dreams I may have borrowed
Just know, my friend, I leave them all to you

Conan Gray - Kid Crow, Decomposed

Whoa. This one came out of nowhere. No announcement, nothing. Basically it was: “Happy 5th Birthday to Kid Crow, here is a vault track and two live versions”. It includes the vault track Bed Rest, The Cut That Always Bleeds (Live), Heather (Lost Verse) [Live].

I heard the lost verse off of Heather last year when he headlined in Amsterdam, but finally being able to stream it? I didn’t expect that, not so soon at least.

Honestly, Bed Rest DESTROYED me.

But now I need some bed rest – To mend from all our trainwrecks
Our love was all too reckless
But now I need some bed rest
Forget your name and address
We almost ended up dead

Zoe Ko - not ur girlfriend

Zoe Ko is amazingly talented and the EP is finally here!!! It includes some of the previously released singles and two new tracks: not ur girlfriend and Manic Pixie Dream Girl. I’ve been waiting for this since Zoe first released Kiss My (Ah) in September and she did not disappoint with this EP.
There’s not really one lyric where I have YES this is motivational or smth like that, so you should just listen to it.

Tate McRae - So Close to What (SiriusXM Live in LA)

I love Tate SO so much. I started listening to her in 2019 I believe just because she’s my literal birthday twin (July 1st, 2003) but I stayed in the fanbase because she is so talented. She released her third album one month ago and it is so good I’m obsessed with the whole album. Today she released two live versions; Greenlight and It’s ok I’m ok.

Sofia Camara - Was I(t) Worth It?

This is the first time I can actively say that I knew of a Sofia Camara release before it was out already. She was the support act for Dean Lewis and even though I wasn’t there I still saw so many photos and videos that I almost was. Sofia is amazing and I really like this EP. My favorite right now is Shoulda Known Better.

Time was never on our side
I see you when I close my eyes
Since we never got to say goodbye
At least not in this lifetime

Jensen McRae - Savannah

I actually just started listening to Jensen, so while I’m not really used to her sound, I do think I could like it. She’s releasing her sophomore album I Don’t Know How But They Found Me! in April and I can’t wait!

I hear it's haunted
That the greatest writers ever lived just where you used to walk
At twenty-one
You used to call those women bitches, didn't you?
It rolled off sweet like honeydew
But you will never know how to talk to ghosts

Leah Kate - Just Because

Leah Kate is also a favorite artist of mine and this song proves it again. While I don’t resemble with the lyrics myself I do see why other people would. I’m not usually one for the slower songs, so I really like the dancy-pop genre.

Can I be brutally honest right now, for once in my life?
It's for the better, we're not talking, but I'm dying inside
